BMAPs, Septics, OH My!

2023 is a watershed moment for septic systems and their contribution to Florida’s water quality. The Florida Legislature has made a giant leap to help Florida’s water bodies.

Septic tanks in Florida have been permitted without nitrogen reduction for many years. However, Florida’s water quality has been imperiled for the past 3 decades. Thus, HB 1379 being signed into law provides reasonable assurances that Florida is making strides to improve Florida’s water quality and quantity.

With proper design, permitting, and installation, these NSF-245 nitrogen reducing septic systems can provide a backbone for Florida’s sustainability.

At Southern Water and Soil, Inc., we strive to provide innovative and cost-effective septic designs for commercial and residential developments.

The use of NSF-245 septic systems with drip irrigation provides the most cost-effective way to reduce nutrients into Florida’s waterways. Through the uptake of vegetation, the nitrogen is used and is bio-available.

If you have a property that is in a BMAP that requires a nutrient reducing septic system give Southern Water and Soil, Inc., a call.
